VA disability pay with a spouse and children
A veteran rated 100% with a spouse and two children under 18 receives $4,428.10 a month; at 90% the same family receives $2,802.30. VA's own table stops at one child and lists every further child as an added amount, so the charts below add those amounts for families with up to five children under 18, with and without a spouse, at every rating from 30%.

What each extra child adds at each rating
The first child under 18 is built into VA's "with child" rows. From the second child on, VA adds a fixed amount per child that rises with the rating, and a child aged 18 to 23 in a qualifying school program is paid a larger amount of its own. Under 38 U.S.C. 1115 those added amounts below 100% are the 100% amount scaled to the rating and rounded down to the dollar.
| Rating | Each child under 18 after the first | Each child 18–23 in school |
|---|---|---|
| 30% | $32.00 | $105.00 |
| 40% | $43.00 | $140.00 |
| 50% | $54.00 | $176.00 |
| 60% | $65.00 | $211.00 |
| 70% | $76.00 | $246.00 |
| 80% | $87.00 | $281.00 |
| 90% | $98.00 | $317.00 |
| 100% | $109.11 | $352.45 |
When a child is 18 to 23 and in school
VA pays the school amount on account of a child over 18 in a qualifying program, so that child does not select a "with child" row. A family with a spouse and two children therefore gets a different amount depending on the children's ages. At 100%, two children under 18 bring $4,428.10; one under 18 and one in college, $4,671.44; both in college, $4,863.07.

Dependent parents and a spouse who receives Aid and Attendance change the amount again; the pay table lists those rows and amounts at every rating, and the dependents guide walks through VA's own worked example. For your exact family, enter it in the calculator.

Rate change announced, new tables not yet entered. On October 14, 2026 the Social Security Administration announced a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment for 2027. VA states: “We’re required by law to match the percentage of cost-of-living adjustments made to Social Security benefits.” The amounts themselves are set by statute (38 U.S.C. 1115 and related sections) and are raised by an act of Congress: H.R. 8552, the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2026, introduced April 28, 2026, would raise veterans' compensation, special monthly compensation and DIC from December 1, 2026 by the same percentage. This site found no record that it, or its Senate companion S. 4487, had passed either chamber. The new rates are therefore expected, not yet certain, to take effect on December 1, 2026. On October 25, 2026, when this site last checked the bill and VA's rate pages, VA had not published the new tables either. The amounts here are from VA's table effective December 1, 2025; no new amounts are projected, and they will be replaced with VA's figures once VA publishes them.
